Finish your makeup with L’Oréal’s ‘Colour Riche Perfect Red’ shade lipstick adding a fabulous contrast to your light skin tone ($21.95)

Perfect curls and waves with a high shine, salon-style finish

For a dramatic look frame your face with sensual waves styling your hair with a ‘GHD V Gold Classic Styler’ ($269)

The NEW GENERATION of Australian Fashion

With the absence of some of the industry’s biggest names during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, the Australian Fashion Chamber announced a new initiative to promote and develop Australian fashion design by nurturing young designers both locally and internationally.

The newly formed not-for-profit organization’s Board of Directors will be led by Edwina McCann, Editor-in-Chief Vogue Australia: “The AFC is a welcome addition to Australia’s fashion landscape that will help foster talent and create sustainable, unique and inspiring businesses of which we will all be proud”.

As part of the New Generation platform, IMG has hand-picked upcoming designers to present their Spring/Summer collections with the aim to watch them grow into successful global businesses in just a few short years.

East meets West – LAN YU debuts bridal collection at MBFWA2014

Lan Yu is the first Chinese fashion designer to show at MBFWA. She presented her enchanting bridal collection in ‘The Box” at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia with Jesinta Campbell posing in one of her most remarkable designs.

The ethereal collection featured floating delicate white gowns with crystal embellishments, feminine silhouettes and lots of tulle around the body.

The young designer has began learning a type of traditional embroidery known as ‘Su Xiu’ from her mother at the age of six, followed by her studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology both in Beijing and New York, where she picked up the best of both worlds delicately balancing exquisite Chinese embroidery techniques with Western structural design and fabrics.

STRATEAS.CARLUCCI – Monochrome Magic

Following Aurelio Costarella’s beautiful sorbet colour palette, Strateas Carlucci’s dark mood, sleek styling and strong architectural approach provided quite a contrast. The Australian based label created by Peter Strateas and Mario-Luca Carlucci has been launched in Paris first with the aim to establish themselves in the overseas markets and make their official Australian debut later.

Strateas Carlucci-2

Although the brand was born just two years ago, they already made a mark on the industry. Their ‘sink or swim’ manoeuvre has paid off and their collections have been picked up by 20 stockists all over the world in Russia, Italy, France, Ukraine, Austria, Bulgaria, Saudi Arabia, Finland, China and Hong Kong.

The label’s vision is to create garments that are timeless through structured and minimal styles. Although the outfits are officially separated into womenswear and menswear on the runway, customers are encouraged to cross gender boundaries and pick out unisex garments from either collections.

Strateas Carlucci Australian debut, monochrome collection, unisex designerwear

The collection showing yesterday was called ‘Fracture’, reflecting the concept of “fractured forms’ with garments created with a sharp, architectural construction and tailoring.

Their signature jacket is made of kangaroo leather accompanied by thick wools and layers upon layers of dark fabrics on the runway. I like their sleek suits and I am sure that both the international and local market will warmly welcome their clean and minimal aesthetic.
