200 outfits a week – THE BACHELOR AUSTRALIA 2014

One of the most successful reality TV series, The Bachelor Australia is shortly coming to an end. Following the departure of magical Jess last week, there are only three gorgeous ladies left competing for the heart of Mr Right.

The perfect Bachelor – Blake Garvey

The 24 contestants looked smoking hot from week to week thanks to the program’s head stylist Anne Stringer who was working closely with Capital L Boutique in Paddington Sydney to dress the stunning bachelorettes.

In an interview with Popsugar she revealed what happens behind the scenes. At the start of filming her team does not less, than 200 outfits a week! Although responding to last-minute requests for outfits to suit the date briefs can be sometimes stressful, I think she still has one of the best jobs in Australia working as fashion stylist for talent shows such as The Voice, X Factor, MasterChef and Australia’s Next Top Model.

Hand in hand with the hair and makeup team she goes over pretty much every outfit worn by the girls with a great focus on finding the right balance between trying new looks on them and ones they already find comfortable. What a great transformation has Louise gone through lately!

I’m afraid I can’t even handle the amount of drama we are about to see this week. The smooth bachelor Blake Garvey is going to propose.. but to who?? After their first date I thought that’s it, Jess is the one, stop the show! However, now I am not sure. Sam is following her footsteps with not being ready to rush love and Blake does not like that, so I think it’s going to be either Louise or Lisa.

Trend and celebrity spotting at NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

Not even a blizzard could stop celebrities from invading Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week couple of weeks ago to see what’s hot in New York.

Uma Thurman for instance sat front row at the Donna Karan show featuring mainly dark colors and lots of layering as one of the main fashion trends for Fall 2013:

VALENTINO, Master of Couture

London, lucky you, I’m jealous!!

A new Valentino exhibition opens namely in the heart of London this November, focusing exclusively on Valentino Garavani’s haute couture masterpieces.

Celebrating the life and work of Valentino, 130 exquisite haute couture designs will be showcased, worn by icons such as Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Grace Kelly, Sophia Loren and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Divided into three sections; visitors will start with a private view of Valentino’s world through photographs from his personal archive, offering an intimate portrait of his life. The exhibition then unfolds into a couture fashion show where roles are reversed with visitors walking the catwalk to view the breathtaking Valentino designs. The final section will allow behind-the scenes access to the Valentino atelier, where the craft of couture is demonstrated in a series of fascinating samples.

The exhibition will run for three months from 29 November 2012 to 3 March 2013. Arrgh.. London, why are you so far?!

The CHANEL PHOTO EXHIBITION in Sydney

My prayers have been heard!!!

Couple of months ago I have put my little hands together for The Little Black Jacket Exhibition to come from Hong Kong to Sydney. It did not happen right away.. The iconic photos first went to London, then to Moscow and finally, when I was about to give up hope, they have arrived to Sydney!

The making of The Little Black Jacket with Sarah Jessica Parker:

I admire the talent shining through the pictures both from photography and styling perspective. Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld have done an unbelievable job with reflecting the unique personalities of a wide range of celebrities: actors, actresses, models, designers, etc. How can the exact same jacket look so different!!

On small ones:

On adults:

On males:

On females:

Romantic on Natalia Vodianova:

Delicate on Anna Mouglalis:

Sexy on Vanessa Paradis:

Killer on Milla Jovovich:

Femme fatale on Uma Thurman:

Provocative on Freja Beha:

Maidenly on Elle Fanning:

And last but not least, daring on Carine Roitfeld, the styling mastermind behind the exhibition, wearing Coco Chanel’s favourite jeweled Maltese Cross cuff and signature pearls:

Should you be also interested in discovering the versatility and timelessness of the iconic Chanel jacket, hurry up, as the free exhibition is open to the public only till 11 November (Pier 2/3, Walsh Bay, Sydney), easily accessible by a short stroll from Circular Quay.

And for the fashionistas in Paris, Berlin and Seoul- stay tuned to see Yoko Ono, Kirsten Dunst, Theophilus London, Claudia Schieffer, Anna Wintour,  Tilda Swinton, Sarah Jessica Parker -and many other style icons with the “Chanel’s Classic Revisited by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld” exhibition coming to your cities before the end of this year.

FASHION EDITORS became the new celebrities

The female decision-makers working for Australia’s number one magazine publisher are considered to be celebrities by the millions of their readers who are longing for the expert advice, a real authority, a role model who they can relate to and admire. People are very keen to gain insight into the intimate world of the glamorous fashion magazines and learn more about the industry secrets.

Are you also curious about the process of how these behind-the-scenes leaders have actually moved forward into the spotlight?

I think it has all started with the box-office hit The Devil Wears Prada in 2006, a story of a fresh graduate journalist who lands the job “a million girls would kill for” when she becomes the junior personal assistant to Miranda Priestly, the icy editor-in-chief of Runway fashion magazine.

U.S. Vogue editor Anna Wintour believed to have been the inspiration of the movie’s main character, shortly felt the need of releasing ‘The September Issue’, a documentary that follows her staff during the production of the September 2007 issue.

According to the critics, Anna Wintour, the real devil wearing Prada, has many similarities to Miranda Priestly’s character who “tells you what she wants and she wants it right away”. Even their offices look-alike. Check out these photos comparing Wintour’s office to Miranda Priestly’s in The Devil Wears Prada:

The movie was released in Australia in 2009, inspiring Foxtel to premiere the ACP reality show ‘Park Street’ placing the Australian women’s magazines and their editors under the microscope in 2011.

Today in 2012, the ’30 Days of Fashion & Beauty’ series taking place last month were also promoted by the beautiful and successful editors of ACP Magazines, who shared their intimate industry secrets with us within the frames of exclusive countrywide styling workshops. They are hard-working, gorgeous and successful, perfect role models to anyone dreaming about a career in fashion.
