Lan Yu is the first Chinese fashion designer to show at MBFWA. She presented her enchanting bridal collection in ‘The Box” at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia with Jesinta Campbell posing in one of her most remarkable designs.
The ethereal collection featured floating delicate white gowns with crystal embellishments, feminine silhouettes and lots of tulle around the body.
The fashion installation revealed a breathtakingly beautiful combination of traditional Chinese embroidery and Western couture.
The young designer has began learning a type of traditional embroidery known as ‘Su Xiu’ from her mother at the age of six, followed by her studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology both in Beijing and New York, where she picked up the best of both worlds delicately balancing exquisite Chinese embroidery techniques with Western structural design and fabrics.
She is not only the favourite bridal designer for China celebrities but her elegant and mystique designs have been spotted regularly on the red carpet of film festivals all over the world.
Lan Yu is regarded as one of Asia’s most influential designers and owns an impressive list of awards:
- ‘China’s Top 10 Designers’
- ‘Designer with the Highest Media Attention’
- ‘Asia’s Most Influential Designer’
- ‘China’s Most Influential Designer’
- ‘2014 Forbes China 30 Under 30: Rising Stars Of Entrepreneurism In China’
Here is a video of her beautiful work.
I hope today’s fascinating presentation will open up new doors to promote her haute couture works on the international fashion stage.
